About My Clients

I serve clients from birth to young adulthood. My clients have supportive and involved families that are an important part of therapy. The children I treat are often anxious, depressed, struggling with ADHD, or have experienced trauma. The young adults I work with typically are struggling to transition from adolescence into adulthood. They are college students, high school graduates, and those that just aren't sure what will be their next step.

My Background and Approach

Professionally, I have worked with families in their homes, communities, shelters, and as an outpatient provider. I graduated with my MS from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2012. In 2020, I completed a fellowship with the Infant, Early Childhood, and Family Mental Health program, which was through the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Medicine and Public Health. I am a nationally certified provider of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and also have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as well as play therapy. I like to incorporate mindfulness, play therapy techniques, and nature into my therapeutic work. Using more of a "prescriptive" approach rather than sticking completely with one modality allows me to be flexible and creative while helping clients reach their goals. The use of play in particular is effective, as play is the language of children and how they learn about their world and themselves.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I identify as a feminist and a Unitarian Universalist. I am open to a wide variety of spiritual and religious practices. I am always trying to work towards how I can be a better ally and support for the LGBTQ+ community as well as BIPOC. I have personally struggled with anxiety and depression in the past and I have turned my ADHD into my superpower. I am also an adoptee and have supported many foster and adoptive families over the years.
