About My Clients
I am here to listen and my clients know that they are safe when talking to me. I believe we heal collectively and together will we combine your unique lived experience, a cultural context, and systemic issues to enhance therapy. Clients who are queer and have experienced trauma are priorities in my practice.
My Background and Approach
I am a queer feminist-relational therapist. A relational therapist looks at the world in the context of the self as related to others, objects, and concepts. For example, how do we define the ourselves in the context of our culture? Or our close friendship? Or with the food we eat? A feminist-relational therapist brings an intersectional feminist lens to those relationships. I embody this approach in work with queer clients, trauma, eating disorders, and more.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that creativity is essential to the healing process and that everyone has a creative streak. It can be art, music, writing, activism, crafting... It can be anything done with passion, inspiration, and ingenuity. I believe meaning-making in life is a creative process. To that end I encourage my clients to explore creatively in any way. I am also a queer person and an activist and I do not separate that from my work as a therapist. I show up as my full self. I am also a trauma and eating disorder survivor and I bring that experience and wisdom to my work as well.
