About My Clients
You are not your trauma. I have heard it said that the trauma response is the appropriate response to a bad situation where there was no support. Over time, this response keeps you from being your whole, creative, beautiful adult self. None of this is your fault. The things you had to believe to keep yourself safe do not serve you anymore. It is time to believe the truth-you are precious, your gifts are needed, and you are worthy of all the love life has to offer.
My Background and Approach
I believe in the profound ability to heal and the power to transform ourselves and our lives. From psychotherapeutic evidenced based modalities such as EMDR and NLP to mysterious centuries old shamanic practices, I help you untangle and become free. My approach is multidimensional and collaborative- sometimes the point of entry is a dream. At other times the body. No matter the modality we are in it together. I was trained at Naropa University, which is know for its mindfulness and transpersonal approaches to the field of psychotherapy. I also completed an extensive apprenticeship with the Shamanic Healing Arts Institute and currently am on the teaching staff. I have also participated in the diets of the Peruvian shamanic tradition. All this said, whatever happens is up to you. Your healing wish is the northstar we use to navigate. *Although my shamanic training is classical I continually seek to practice in the way of my own ancestors-a process of study and remembering.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe queerness is evolutionary-sometimes a burden, but most of the time a blessing. My own coming out was a spiritually driven experience. My longing to connect with nature and the divine required me to accept- and eventually celebrate- my queerness. With access to the energy I had long been suppressing I became more creative, more kind, more aware of bigger issues like white supremacy, social justice, and all of the curses of the patriarchy. I had considered myself savvy to these issues-I was a poli sci major, after all. But that was before coming out. That was book learning and intellectual understanding. Now these issues are part of me-not outside of me. My longing for the divine arrived in the form of being connected to something bigger than me: everyone else, which now includes trees, water, animals, and the unseen world. These are the gifts of queerness for me and I am forever grateful.
