About My Clients
The connection that is created between a therapist and client is the catalyst for change and growth. My goal is to provide therapy with a relaxed atmosphere where individuals, couples, and families can feel comfortable to be authentic so growth can occur. My therapeutic style is direct with humor and compassion with a systemic viewpoint.
My Background and Approach
My journey to becoming a therapist has been full of excitement and exploration. I am a people person and enjoy talking and learning new things about others. My life’s journey has afforded me the opportunity to create connections with many as a therapist and special education teacher. One of my favorite parts of my job is that connection that is created with individuals, couples, and families. I have a passion and enjoy helping couples and families navigate growth over the lifespan in relationships, sexuality, education, and aging. I am a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in Georgia (AMFT 000628). Being an associate therapist means that I am currently under the supervision and direction of a fully licensed therapist, Dr. Kara McDaniel. I am also a certified special education teacher of fourteen years and have extensive experience with behavior modification and positive behavior support plans.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that one of the hardest things about therapy is making the first contact with the therapist. That first phone call or email might make you nervous or scared because it is unknown territory. The minute you decide to make contact, personal growth begins. I believe every choice, every move you make towards therapy creates change and success towards growth. I have been trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy levels 1&2. I believe that authentic communication is vital to strong relationships. As your Gottman Therapist, I will encourage you to strengthen your communication and connection with your partner through research based therapeutic interventions.
