About My Clients

Ever wonder if that "groundhog day" feeling will go away? Feeling "stuck" and having emotions that won't seem to give you a break can feel overwhelming. Reaching out for support and having someone to listen is vital to our lives, especially after the stress of living through a global pandemic. Life can be overwhelming and exhausting, but I’m here to help you navigate its challenges. My aim is to help you understand yourself more deeply and better cope with change.

My Background and Approach

I’m Alexis Johnson, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor located in the Bay Area of California - here to support you through life’s complexities an embark on a journey towards mental and emotional well-being. My passion for supporting clients through life transitions began in graduate school and continues to blossom with each client relationship I form. My experiences, both professional and personal, have taught me the importance of witnessing great pain and great joy. I believe we cannot have one without the other. Take control of your healing process, and experience the benefits of weekly support tailored to your unique challenges. Getting "unstuck" and processing feelings that have continued to replay in your life, will help you find relief and regain the joy of life. I want to partner with you in finding the best path forward.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Trauma and mental health struggles can leave us feeling stuck. I believe that mental health stressors develop when we don't have the support system and safety to process feelings and experiences that challenge us. Since my childhood, I experienced anxiety and depression and I couldn't understand or control. In my personal therapy process and through my trainings, I've learned about the connection of our minds and bodies; caring for one aspect of ourselves can be supportive of all areas of our identity. Therapy works to give us space to verbalize sticking points and find relief from the stress of life. I believe in the power of a collaborative therapeutic relationship, working together with you to foster resilience, promote self-discovery, and empower you to lead a fulfilling life. From stressful, day-to-day circumstances, to traumatic experiences - my therapy style is focused on each individualized set of needs. If you'd like to learn more about how I can help, please message me!
