Alexis Fahey (she/her)

For teen individual work, I work primarily with teens struggling with authenticity, substance misuse, body image issues, peer relationship difficulties, behavioral issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and family conflict. I am dedicated to working with adolescents, as I believes they are often misunderstood and labeled negatively by the public, media, and sometimes their families too. I have found that adolescents are extremely capable and insightful and often just need patient assistance.

For family work, I am skilled at reducing family conflict, increasing positive communication, shifting unhealthy dynamics and assisting members in building authentic connection. I work with siblings, parents, and even extended family members if needed. I specialize in attachment work, and have significant experience working with adopted children and their families. I also specialize in parenting, specifically healthy co-parenting during divorce or separation.

I offer parent coaching to assist parents with managing the everyday stressors of parenting, especially in this time of Covid-19. I am trained in "Parent Effectiveness Training" a modality created by Dr. Thomas Gordon, and assist parents in learning effective communication skills as well as how to effectively enforce consequences. Often, parents are struggling with children's behaviors and I can walk parents through the steps in reducing tension and conflict within the home.

I believe that clients are the experts of their own lives, I am just here as a supportive, validating and reflecting person to illuminate themes.

I have worked extensively with families in community mental health, residential treatment for teens and now currently in private practice and in outpatient services for teens. I have extensive experience in reducing family conflict and increasing positive communication and connection.

I believe CBT can be the backbone of conscious change of behavior, thoughts and feelings. I believe it is a tangible way towards solutions and shifts. I have been trained in CBT and utilize this orientation with my clients when clinically appropriate.
