About My Clients
My clients have issues of all types, but are willing to do the work. Depression, substance abuse, relationship problems in love and family, work and life stressors, identity transformations, trauma of any kind, anxiety, autism, codependency or isolation imbalances...all are welcome, and I can sincerely promise you that you are not alone, and you're not crazy. Honestly, the system is pretty flawed, and I encourage you to reframe your shortcomings as the assets which have helped you survive.
My Background and Approach
I work from a Gestalt-informed, psychosomatic, family systems approach with graduate training from Teacher's College at Columbia University and post-graduate training from the Gestalt institute in NYC. I also worked in outpatient low-income inner-city clinics for several years. All of this means that I operate from a deep, felt knowledge of systemic injustice. I have witnessed transgenerational trauma move from parent to child with my own eyes, (I have called Child Protective Services when necessary to intervene on this) and I specialize in expelling Embodied Trauma. "Relational" clinicians seek to support the client, not control- I do not have any authority over you, and I harness the therapeutic relationship as an opportunity to empower my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal beliefs and interests...oh no, but what if you judge me and don't like me anymore? What if we don't have enough in common for you to think I can relate to you as a therapist?!?! In the spirit of destroying segregation, I'll share, I suppose. I really like to go down deep Internet rabbit holes at night and find wacky memes. I have a Pomeranian named Chikki who is a freak. I also really like donuts. But only A plus donuts; like Cronuts. My beliefs...most religions are ethically similar; people get caught up in the words and lose the meaning. Everything is Figure-out-able; and "The harder you try the harder you will get better at it."
