Accepting Clients

Hi, I'm so glad you're here! I’m Alexis and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oklahoma.

Licensed Professional Counselor in Oklahoma City, OK

About My Clients

I work with clients who want to gain a better understanding of themselves and their identity, reduce shame, and begin integrating all parts of themselves. I see teens (age 15 and up) and adults navigating identity development, life transitions, relationship difficulties, self-worth, trauma, anxiety, and other mood disorders.

My Background and Approach

I take a relational approach to therapy, and believe that the relationship between therapist and client is a safe and effective space to practice vulnerability, curiosity, mindfulness, boundary setting, and emotional regulation. I am dedicated to creating a safe space where you can freely explore and expand your self-knowledge. We will welcome all parts of you in order to increase understanding, compassion, and patience for the ways that you have adapted to the world around you. I believe in working together with clients to identify patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, make connections, and encourage healing and change through empathy, compassion, education, and support. I work from a secular, LGBTQIA+ affirming framework. I received a Master of Education in Professional Counseling from the University of Oklahoma and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe deeply that the therapy space should allow clients to feel brave, and I am committed to doing my own work to create that space for clients. I believe that therapy can be a space to explore your identity, find healing, process experiences and emotions, and more. I see my clients in their humanity, and believe that they are the experts of themselves and their experiences. I believe in acknowledging within the therapeutic space the ways that systemic oppression, marginalization, discrimination, and capitalism all have an impact on mental well being. I also believe that many of the ways we behave and cope were adapted due to the environments we grew up in, and that we should look at those behaviors in a nonjudgmental and compassionate way. The values that I bring into the therapy space are the same values that I hold in my personal life. I have a history of working in public schools, victim advocacy, and with many LGBTQIA+ and gender expansive folks.
