About My Clients
I am passionate about working with LGBTQIA folks and their allies. I provide a safe, sex-positive space to discuss polyamory and ethical non-monogamy. I will honor and respect your definitions of what family, love, connection and relationships mean to you, or we will figure it out together! My clients are motivated to attend therapy and reach their goals, are self-aware, and are wanting that extra help to get to where they want to be.
My Background and Approach
I work with individuals, families, couples and all kinds of relationships. I take a wide lens when it comes to mental and relational health and try to capture the whole picture of the person or people in my care. Therapy should feel safe, a little challenging, and sometimes even exciting with a dose of good humor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Becoming a therapist was an early aspiration, but her first loves were theater, art, dance and music. She began her career working as an in-home family therapist here in the Twin Cities and in community mental health in rural New Hampshire. She worked with adolescents and their families in an academic day treatment setting for two years before opening her own private practice in Uptown, Minneapolis in 2017. She is trained in EMDR. She is a trauma-informed therapist who is passionate about creating safe spaces for people who live or want to explore living counter-culturally. She is a strong believer in community care, and reproductive and racial justice matters. Alexis lives in Minneapolis with her partner and two super cool kids who keep who keep her on her toes. She likes playing her piano, reading, yoga, learning, cooking, crocheting, hosting her friends and loved ones for dinner and conversation, skiing in winter, exploring the city by bicycle, and traveling.
