Accepting Clients

Hi, I'm Alex. I am a licensed professional mental health counselor, art therapist, and yoga teacher. I am currently accepting new clients.

Art Therapist in Philadelphia, PA

About My Clients

I work with clients who experience perfectionism, shame, and guilt. Growing up, if we missed out on empathy, emotional validation, encouragement, or secure connection, we may be saddled with the belief that we are "not worthy", or "never good enough". We may struggle to accept our authentic self and struggle to find purpose. I work with teens, adults, and couples/partners effected by cycles of trauma, addiction, and disconnection.

My Background and Approach

Alexandra (Alex) Weinfeld is a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor from Wilmington, DE that is licensed in the states of Delaware and Pennsylvania. She is the Owner of Alight & Ascend Therapy LLC, a mental health counseling practice, offering in person art therapy and counseling at her office in Brewerytown, Philadelphia. Alex is a board certified Art Therapist and also a Registered Yoga Teacher. She is the self-published author of "Detangle Your Mind: An Unconventional Nonjudgmental Coloring Book". I earned my BA in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College and BFA in Ceramics & Sculpture at West Chester University, before completing my MA in Art Therapy & Counseling at Drexel University in Philadelphia. I am trained to use creative materials, including drawing, painting, collaging, sculpting, and more, to access an alternative way of healing for clients. I am trained to use somatic therapy techniques, such as EMDR, to treat trauma and encourage empowerment in clients.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a yoga teacher, I believe in finding peace and balance in our lives and oneness with ourselves. I use a trauma-informed, relational cultural, compassionate, mindful, non-judgmental, non-violent approach. It is my aim to create a safe and affirming space for clients to express themselves authentically and feel emotions. For me, it is important to meet clients where they are in the present moment because I believe our past does not have to define our future. I believe everyone is worthy of a safe productive opportunity to process their experiences and to be fully seen and supported in their healing. To feel confident and connected in relationships we need to keep showing up where we are fully seen and loved. I encourage clients to honor what once served them while letting go of what no longer serves them.
