About My Clients
I am proud and inspired to do the work of a counselor. It is my commitment to offer encouragement and support along your path to change. What I find most rewarding is witnessing an individual find their own sense of strength, validation, and courage to pursue their goals and gain self-acceptance.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Texas and Illinois. My Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology and Masters of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling (2007) are both from Southern Illinois University. I have had the privilege of working in many different settings and treating a multitude of disorders, such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, borderline personality disorder, anger management, and relationship issues, among others. My experience includes work in outpatient community mental health, crisis assessment, residential substance abuse, vocational rehabilitation counseling, private practice and employee assistance programs. I have provided both group and individual counseling for youth, couples, adults and workplace counseling to USPS employees. My approach largely pulls from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, with an eclectic blend of techniques depending on the needs of my client.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Healthy living is a daily practice and lifestyle I truly value. I enjoy salsa dancing, learning, travel, and spending time with friends and family. I believe optimizing physical, emotional and relational health greatly improves quality of life.
