About My Clients
Many of my client are trans or queer. You might also come see me for therapy if you are male or female and have experienced trauma, if you are the parent of a teen/child who is angry, oppositional, suicidal, cutting or has recently gone through a hospitalization or treatment program. My clients are anywhere from 6 years old and into retirement. I enjoy supporting children, teens and adults through exploring their gender, sexuality and also taking all the many steps of transitioning.
My Background and Approach
I have been working with kids, teens, families and adults since 2004. I received a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2004. The initial motivation that propelled me to become a counselor was to help kids who were abused and did not have any caring, supportive adults in their lives. I was able to do that for years through Intensive In-home Family Counseling in North Carolina and, at times, I was the only trusted, caring person in a child’s life. Over time, I moved into other areas of counseling. Current I have supported clients in many different roles, and am now happy to be in private practice. I welcome everyone in my practice and will let you know if I feel I am not the best person to help you. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Along with more traditional forms of therapy such as person-centered therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and motivational interviewing, I also work with clients through Byron Katie’s Inquiry (called the WORK). I find this to be extremely useful and beneficial when combined with traditional forms of therapy. I believe that all of us have the potential to
