About My Clients
The clients that resonate the most with my approach tend to be interested and willing to look at their lives and circumstances from multiple levels and perspectives. As humans, we exist in a context that encompasses more than our personal choices, including the identities we potentially belong to. I love looking at the stories of my client's lives and taking a look together at the narratives we tell ourselves about how our life is going.
My Background and Approach
I prioritize a person-centered and strengths-based approach when working with individuals. One of my main interests as a counselor is helping people build better self-awareness about their experiences in the world to make choices that are aligned with their personal and professional goals. I pull from various modalities in collaboration with the client to reach their goals during their time together, including acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive approaches, narrative therapy, mindfulness strategies, and various creative/art interventions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe with the right awareness and commitment, anyone is capable of change and improvement. I attribute my perspective to my own journey in life and the work I've been able to do on myself and with diverse populations during my experience as a clinician so far. I was born and raised in The Bahamas and try to meet all my clients with cultural humility, using an intersectional approach to understand the depth of what my clients may be going through.
