About My Clients
Every client is unique and is facing their own distinctive challenges. Therefore each treatment plan should be personalized and individualized. An ideal client is one who comes to counseling with an open mind and is ready to try new approaches and coping skills. Each person will benefit differently from a wide variety of approaches. Together we can and will find the right strategies that work best for you. There is not a "normal" or "standard" cookie-cutter path. It is a journey!
My Background and Approach
The therapeutic environment is a safe place for clients and their families to experience their vulnerabilities while sharing their stories. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered treatment interventions and I have found that when using these interventions, people begin to realize the strength to overcome challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. As a child, my parents divorced and I did not realize how much I was bothered by that abandonment until much later in life. Through my own therapy, I learned how to handle my anxiety and move past it so that it didn't have control over me. I have a lot of experience in ministry at church. I know there has been a lot of religious abuse and negativity from many religious people. I am progressive in that I do not think that such abuse is what God had in mind for human relationships.
