About My Clients
I help neurodivergent (and suspected-ND) folks heal from relational trauma, strengthen relationships, and manage the unique and varied challenges that differently-wired brains can come with, including problems related to ADHD, autism, and giftedness. A lot of stress and anxiety can come with feeling different from those around you. It can be frustrating when you struggle with doing things that seem easy for others, and lonely when you feel misunderstood or don’t meet others’ expectations.
My Background and Approach
You might feel like you’re doing life the wrong way, and I’m here to tell you: there is no right or wrong way to be. There’s only the way that brings you closer to the people and values that matter to you. Therapy helps you filter out the noise in life—negative self-talk, harmful cycles, everyday stress, and whatever “normal” means—so you can get in-tune with what’s important to you. My goal is to help you turn up the volume on what’s meaningful and mute what’s not, so you can enjoy the music more. In practice, this means we will identify your (or your relationship’s) unique strengths and limitations, explore how experiences of the past influence the present, and grow your toolbox of healthy coping skills. I will encourage you to try new things and advocate for your needs. I will also challenge you to notice the habits or patterns you may have that get in the way of your goals, so you can decide how to move forward with clarity. I will be direct, curious, collaborative, and patient.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
You deserve a space where you can be exactly the way you are without fear of judgement. I’m committed to providing trauma-informed, sex-positive, and inclusive therapy that is neuro-, queer-, and culturally-affirming. I believe humans are as diverse as nature and we will all benefit from a world that supports and cherishes variation. I have deep bicultural Mexican-American bordertown roots, and am trained to help with Latino/a/x/é cultural and intergenerational issues. I worked as an artist and potter before turning my focus to mental health, and I enjoy working with artists and creative types. I’m also trained to work with diverse religious and spiritual beliefs, and am happy to explore ways to integrate your beliefs into therapy if that is important to you. Outside of therapy, I work at a domestic violence shelter, and am currently training to become a state-certified advocate for people who have survived family or intimate partner abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
