About My Clients
I love working with teens (12+) and young adults who are looking for an ally in exploring their identity, difficulties with school, family relationships, friendships, and more. I have experience with trauma (including preverbal trauma and cPTSD), anxiety, depression, life transitions, and identity formation. I have a special interest in working with and providing an affirming space for people who are neurodivergent, queer, and/or experiencing chronic pain/illness.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker in the state of Washington (LW61163270). I have six years of clinical experience working with clients aged 8-25 and their families. My style is warm, humanistic, and collaborative, and I believe in humor as a great tool for healing and connection. I'm trained in evidence based practices including CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), IFS (internal family systems), and EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing). I am also a big proponent of affinity therapy, which involves bringing your interests and hobbies into treatment. As an example, I'm trained in therapeutically-applied roleplaying games (like Dungeons & Dragons).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe the most important part of therapy is the relationship -- we do our best healing when we feel safe and when we trust the person with whom we are sharing. My hope is to provide a safe, affirming, supportive space where together we can discover what will help you achieve your goals. I also believe that we do not exist in a silo, and that community is healing. I identify as queer and disabled and finding support in those communities has been immensely helpful for me. Therapy is just one part of your journey, and my goal is to connect you with community so that you can continue to feel seen and supported.
