About My Clients
You might be facing relationship conflict (with yourself or others); moving through grief or navigating a stressful life transition; coping with anxiety or depression; grappling with sexual or identity concerns; or dealing with substance use issues... Maybe it's something different or even unidentified. But a part of you knows that you don't need to struggle with it alone anymore. I welcome teen (13+) and adult clients, as individuals or in couples/dyads (or other relationship configurations).
My Background and Approach
My educational training in psychotherapy is based in recovery, resilience, and social justice models. I bring an encouraging presence and relational style to the therapeutic experience, enlivening sessions with humor. My approach is integrative, tailoring techniques and interventions to best fit each client's individual needs. We collaborate on goals, pace, and continuing feedback to adjust things when needed. I emphasize our connection, as the relationship between therapist and client can lead to successful outcomes, regardless of the type of treatment. Clients get the space and time to identify their emotional experience, express what might otherwise feel unsharable, and move toward their truest values and desires. I am to make therapy approachable—hopefully even enjoyable!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we can listen deeply to ourselves, gain clarity, and even perceive things differently when we say them out loud. Especially when witnessed by another empathetic human. I admire people who are genuinely themselves. And I think there's nothing more valuable in life than healthy human connection—with oneself and those in the world around us, especially those we love. (Science tends to agree!) But building and fostering relationships is an art. So much can get in our way. Shame, self-consciousness, fear, anxieties, guilt. A history of trauma, personal or intergenerational. Others' judgment or mistreatment. Cultural taboos. Unjust societal structures and systems. Still, I fully believe that every one of us has the capacity to reclaim some of our own individual and relational power in order to live fully, on purpose! I also believe in the life-changing magic of dogs, burritos, and travel to far-off lands.
