About My Clients

I work with folks who are looking to get relief. From stress, from frustration, confusion, whatever is causing discomfort and making life less fulfilling; those are the people who I work best with. I also connect really well with people who actually don't typically want to go see a therapist. Folks with substance issues, first responders, young adults, working professionals, health care workers, students, food service and hospitality professionals have all come through my doors.

My Background and Approach

I have worked in pain clinics, drug rehab centers, county jail, crisis stabilization and in public safety. I have held leadership positions and done direct patient care. In all my various experiences, I have found that a great many things are connected, and at the root of every problem, there is a person that just wants to get back to feeling better. My approach is always to meet people where they are at, and create space for each person to truly be the expert on themselves. We can use hypnosis, dream analysis, CBT and various other evidence based techniques. What's most important is going at your pace. I have speciality training in body psychology, hypnosis and trauma. I have masters degrees in psychology and mental health counseling and a doctoral degree in behavioral health. I have been working since 2012 as a therapist. I teach for the community colleges and also do trainings around the state and nationally.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that therapy is weird. Its not a normal relationship and it is beautiful and strange how therapy works. I believe the world is full of things that are both beautiful and devastating. It's hard to be a person. We find community, religion, family, hobbies, subcultures and everything in between to help us make sense, make meaning, of the life we have. We have to be open to the weirdness of ourselves and the process. We have to be OK with whatever makes us happy as long as it doesn't hurt others. We have to believe in ourselves and the ability to feel good more than we feel bad. I've been in a lot of therapy myself and if I believe in anything, it's a persons ability to heal.
