About My Clients

Grief is personal & you don’t have to feel ashamed about how you feel. All types of loss can be mourned. You might feel a mix of emotions: sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, & some others you can’t quite figure out. Your heart might ache, your stomach clench, and lose sleep; or, you might feel nothing and think there’s something wrong with you. I'd like to help you feel like you can continue your life, growing and thriving, while carrying the memory of your loss in a healthy and functional way.

My Background and Approach

My therapeutic approaches are both clinical and holistic. I draw from therapies like CBT, narrative therapy, trauma-informed care, eco-therapy, existential psychotherapy, and DBT skills training. I'm a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist (CGCS), and when I'm in session with a client I might use more unconventional tools like Tarot, Chinese Qi Gong exercises, and breathwork. I like to go by what my clients need and what they are comfortable with using. A huge goal of mine is to help my clients change the stories they tell themselves, since the meaning they derive from what’s happened, is happening, and what will happen can determine what role they play in their own lives. I find it to be very empowering for clients when they realize they are ultimately in control of their own narrative. I have 10+ years working in mental health, and have worked with people ranging from mild to severe mental illness. My style is light-hearted, nonjudgmental, compassionate, and direct.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I'm very big on inviting all aspects of you — your identities, traditions, cultures, and rituals — into our work together. I'm always open to your feedback when deciding what works (and what doesn't work for you) and encourage you to be open and the leader in your own therapy. As a 1st-generation American who grew up in a multi-generational household, I understand how important the role of culture is someone's life, as well as how helpful having a community (in whatever capacity) can be. I believe a community that appreciates and respects the distinct personalities of each person, and understands that all individuals involved are equal can be very beneficial environment for growth and to be able to thrive. Part of my work is to help client connect with, build, or find those communities.
