About My Clients
I enjoy working with Teens, Young Adults, Elders, members of the LGBTQ+ community, BIPOC individuals, and non-BIPOC individuals alike. I’m especially passionate about working with those who may be resistant to therapy or who have found themselves wanting to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their way of thinking, and their way of acting. The issues I address in therapy include past trauma, anxiety, depression, life dissatisfaction, life transitions, and more.
My Background and Approach
I truly believe every individual is capable of discovering the resilience within them, especially with a compassionate guide to walk alongside them. As such, I take a Person-Centered approach to counseling that focuses on viewing clients and their struggles non-judgmentally, with positivity and curiosity. The techniques I use in session are grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), but I also draw on skills from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to suit clients as needed. I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at LaGrange College. Prior to becoming a mental health practitioner, I spent six years in the tech field, working in customer support, marketing, sales, and project management. I decided to pursue counseling as a career change after realizing it was my passion to build connections and support others in their personal journeys.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my own journey, I have experienced various situations--from health scares to trauma and burnout, but I find that my experience has allowed me to have even more compassion for clients experiencing pain and struggles. That is why I sincerely pride myself on being someone my clients can be themselves around.
