About My Clients
I look forward to working with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, and stressors from life transitions such as relationships (marriage, divorce, blended families), postpartum depression and anxiety, and teens facing issues anger, depression, and anxiety.
My Background and Approach
I have a Bachelors of Arts Psychology from Winston-Salem State University and Master Social Worker from University of South Carolina. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, mostly utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy with clients who are anxious or depressed. I am also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We will discuss feelings, emotions, and behaviors that you experience in your daily life and learn tools to feel in control of yourself. I will use the eclectic approach which allows me to work with you use in using the best skills that will help you in the therapeutic process.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way. Which means that I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. I believe in therapy because I have had to unlearn healthy behaviors and grow by learning new ways of thinking and behaving.
