About My Clients
Have you tried talk therapy before and felt like you needed more? Through sand tray, play therapy or Internal Family Systems, the topics can be addressed as you are ready to address them. I have extensive training in working with minority groups and provide a safe space to address current concerns, especially for the LGBTQIA population.
My Background and Approach
I have developed a strong awareness of the needs and development of children and teens through a decade of being a teacher. Aimee’s approach to counseling focuses on mindfulness, self-compassion, sand tray and internal family systems. I create a safe therapeutic setting for every client using a variety of therapeutic approaches and collaborating with clients. Through mindfulness and self-compassion, opportunities are created for seeing different outcomes, and dispelling shame which often stops personal growth. Through sand tray, clients are able to identify and express needs which may not have been known, yet. Through internal family systems, clients are able to identify parts of themselves that need attention and healing. She practices in a facility in Treasure Valley as well as through telehealth. I specialize in sand tray, play therapy, anxiety and depression, and LGBTQIA issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Aimee sees the therapuetic relationship as collaborative with the client. Progress happens due to setting goals together, and celebrating the successes together. Aimee is an active member of the LGBTQ community, and created a support group (the first of its kind) in Nampa called Rainbow Circle. She believes strongly in compassion of others, and encouraging self-compassion in others as a way to heal from the struggles the LGBTQIA community experiences.
