I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) because it fosters a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages self-exploration and motivation for change. MI clarifies values and goals, allowing one to identify and resolve ambivalence about making positive changes in one's life. This client-centered approach empowers one to take ownership of decisions and enhances intrinsic motivation, making it easier to commit to behavioral changes.
