I work with clients as they come each session, finding their strengths and building on them; while having a few laughs at the same time.

Having experience many forms of trauma, I have focussed my practice to working with individuals with trauma histories. I have taken many classes and read several books on the subject. I utilize trauma informed lens while working with individuals and seeing all the intricacies of how the trauma affects ALL of their life. First we build safety, learn coping strategies, and then work on processing the trauma story. This process is different for each person.
Having struggled with Anxiety, I know all the spirals that come from it. Whether you worry about what has happened, what is going to happen, or worried about how others view you (the list can go on and on) being able to focus on the tools that can help calm those thoughts. In utilizing mindfulness, exercise, and reframing thoughts, we can work toward decreasing the anxious thoughts and live in the moment instead of what should have or could be.
I am the parent of four children and have been teaching parenting for over 20 years. The typical parenting practices work great; for the "normal" child, but inadvertently makes the emotional, traumatized, intense and challenging individual worse. Now I teach the Nurtured Heart Approach. I teach this both in a class format and individually. It has been a great way to help parents and the children to see the great kids they are with great things to offer. It builds positive self-esteem.
