About My Clients
I offer individual therapy using cognitive behavioral therapies while continuing to pursue a greater depth of understanding to these approaches that promote a client's overall well-being and propel them forward towards their goals. I believe in being direct with my clients while also using humor to break the heaviness that often ensues in life.
My Background and Approach
I hold a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Johns Hopkins University and am licensed as a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) in Maryland and a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Florida. Completing my internship and first two years of my career at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, I was able to gain clinical and research publication experience as well as further specialized training and certifications while working with a neurodivergent population of children and adolescents and attending to the therapeutic needs of their parents and caretakers. In addition, I am well-versed in ACT, implementing it in individual as well as group contexts, and have continued to pursue a passion for cognitive behavioral approaches that promote a client's overall well-being while encouraging the client to be the expert on their life and goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As both a former client and a current practitioner in mental health, I understand how difficult it can be to move forward when you feel stuck and struggling against the quicksand of depression and anxiety. I primarily utilize ACT, CBT, and DBT to help my clients, integrating these evidence-based practices based on the unique needs of each individual. I firmly believe that each client is the expert on their own life and I am here to help them become a more confident expert. As a result, I work best with clients who desire want to be active participants in their therapy in order to be more successful in their lives outside of therapy.
