About My Clients
I have 14 years of experience helping adults with substance use, domestic violence, rape crisis and other traumatic experiences. I also am skilled in helping individuals navigate separation/divorce, relocation or workplace burnout. Our initial session is structured to allow you to feel safe and develop trust. My goal is for you to leave the session seeing yourself as more than the pain, shame or fear you brought into the session. I want you to feel direction oriented and hopeful!
My Background and Approach
I grew up in the South Suburbs of Chicago, the eldest of five in an Irish Catholic home. I have a Master's in Art Counseling Psychology from The Adler School of Professional Psychology. Since 2009, I have worked in rape crisis, domestic violence and substance abuse fields before entering group practice. In private practice I focus on relationship wounds and difficulties, traumatic experiences, anxiety and depression. I love EMDR! It has been a reliable modality and resulted in the most healing for clients from all backgrounds with varying traumatic experiences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe our purpose is to be of service to each other. I live and teach being of service and honoring ourselves through an intimate knowledge of personal virtues and values. I believe when we understand what our personal values are, we can live authentically and securely. We can find our people more readily, we can feel we belong and we have purpose. I believe we can have deep security from this understanding of self and carry ourselves in an open, non-judgmental, egalitarian manner.
