About My Clients
Most of my clients come to therapy to process & explore past traumas and experiences that are impacting their current functioning. Sometimes these are "obvious" traumas such as natural disasters, abuse or neglect, or the traumatic death or loss of a loved one. Other times there are smaller parts of their story that have somehow planted seeds of doubt and anxiety which have blossomed into this tree of anxiety and self-doubt. At this time, I'm working with adults ages 18-40.
My Background and Approach
I use traditional talk therapy models like CBT, interpersonal therapy & motivational interviewing. I'm formally trained in EMDR therapy as well to process current or past trauma's that may be impacting you from reaching the goals you desire. At times I also utilize the expressive arts such as music & sandtray in my practice. I like to think that I'm a "real" & down to earth therapist. My goal is to create a safe, & nurturing environment for each client while understanding that no 2 clients or their experiences are the same. I believe that every person, regardless of age, has a story to tell & my goal is to create a safe & nurturing environment for you to share that story.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in hope, love, equality, equity, inclusion, and kindness. I also believe in science, accountability, and the impact that trauma has on our functioning. In my practice, I feel comfortable addressing any differences in gender, race, and ethnicity with my clients and the impact that these might have on the therapeutic relationship and overall treatment.
