About My Clients
The thing I love about therapy is the diversity. While I am trauma & grief focused, I have explored marriages, family relationships, parenting styles, dissatisfaction in careers, failing friendships, and difficulty with life transitions. I love people- period. I enjoy the work that I do and truly believe it comes across.
My Background and Approach
I’m a Black Hispanic social worker who strongly advocates and supports the unique barriers minority communities face. I held positions in CPS, crisis response, foster care & case management which led to exploring and heavily training in grief and trauma to suite the needs of my community. Doing crisis response has taught me the gravity of trauma and how it trickles through every aspect of our lives- from parenting to relationships familial, romantic and platonic, to how we function in work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in human rights. I believe we all seek acceptance for who we are authentically and believe who you are and what you believe is between you and the good Lord. It is not my place to judge nor am I interested in doing so. My job is to treat you with respect, kindness and compassion, especially if you've made a mistake. Failure is the first step in success, always. It is how we learn and how we continue to grow. I believe that we start life in need of help and when we return to the Earth, we will need it again. This is a universal truth and so it is our obligation to people, plants and animals to treat life with respect.
