About My Clients

My ideal client is navigating life/life transition and seeks a therapist who understands identity, culture, and connection. I especially love working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, first-generation Americans, people of color, and women — plus clients facing infertility, trauma, anxiety, or family conflict. As a queer, first-gen Nigerian/Haitian woman myself, I bring lived understanding to our work. Sex-positive, kink-affirming, and ENM-friendly. Let's reconnect you to your authentic self.

My Background and Approach

I'm Adenike (Aah-deh-knee-keh), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 16+ years of experience, independently licensed in Texas, Virginia, and DC, offering telehealth therapy across all three. My background spans crisis intervention, emergency and inpatient behavioral health, medical social work, and child welfare — giving me deep experience holding steady with people in their hardest moments. I also provide clinical supervision, trained by DC, Virginia, and Texas boards. As a queer, first-generation Nigerian/Haitian woman, I bring lived understanding to my work with LGBTQ+, first-gen, and BIPOC clients. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, infertility, and life transitions, using a person-centered, mind-body-spirit approach that blends CBT, mindfulness, and strength-based care. My practice is sex-positive, kink-affirming, and ENM-friendly. I hold space for your authentic self, wherever you're headed next.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe healing happens when we honor the whole person — mind, body, spirit, and ancestral roots — not just the symptoms someone walks in with. I believe every client deserves a space that's safe, trusting, and free of judgment, where their true, authentic self is welcome exactly as it is. I believe therapy isn't about becoming someone new, but about releasing what no longer serves you so your truest self can come forward — as Erykah Badu says, 'time to eliminate things that no longer evolve you.' I believe cultural identity, family history, and lived experience matter deeply in how we heal, especially for first-generation and immigrant-rooted clients navigating dual worlds. I believe affirming care isn't optional — it's foundational — for LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and other marginalized clients. And I believe meeting people exactly where they are, without an agenda for who they should become, is the most respectful and effective way to walk alongside someone through change.
