About My Clients
Have you had adverse experiences in your life? Are you going through a life transition, struggling with depression, or wanting to understand how to manage your stress and anxiety? Working from a trauma-informed lens, I help clients make sense of their past while moving forward and creating practical changes in the here and now. You are the author of your own life and I see my role as a guide to helping you uncover what has been keeping you from thriving.
My Background and Approach
I operate from an understanding that safety is established in the connections we foster with others and find that the therapeutic relationship is essential to this process. With this in mind, I place a great deal of emphasis on our collaboration and model authenticity, empathy, and a non-judgemental stance within the therapy space. Most importantly, I find that the relationship we have with ourselves is foundational to improving the quality of our lives. I work with clients to help them explore parts of themselves that may be interfering with their growth and development. Oftentimes this can manifest in the form of unhelpful behaviors, unhealthy ways of coping, or clinical disorders (i.e., depression, anxiety). I work primarily through an attachment, emotion-focused, and relational based framework, however am also trained in skills based interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am often asked why I chose this career path and how I manage to work so intimately with the pain of others. The truth is, I don’t see myself doing anything else. I found my passion in this work several years ago when I began volunteering late night shifts as a client advocate at an emergency clinic for survivors of sexual assault. I haven’t looked back since. My fulfillment is cultivated by the privilege I have been afforded to listen to the hardships of my clients, enabling me witness to their resilience and aid in the alleviation of their suffering. So often I am humbled by the sheer bravery, adaptability, and deep wisdom clients demonstrate in facing the various challenges in their lives. I strive to help my clients also find their "why".
