About My Clients

Are you looking for relief from anxiety and endless thought rumination? Do you find it difficult to quiet your body and mind? I have been through it too and know all too well how painful it can be. Together we can establish a different experience for you that includes reliable self-care practices that will be available to you at all times. I look forward to teaching you these tools as well as reducing anxiety together experientially in session.

My Background and Approach

I have been practicing meditation for nearly 30 years and with this foundation of mindfulness and physiological awareness have become attuned to what works and what doesn't when it comes to reducing anxiety and finding clarity. There are multiple tools and techniques I can share with you--some for immediate relief and others for more gradual change. We'll work together in session to find out what is most challenging for you in the moment and proceed from there. I strongly believe change is possible and have watched my clients lessen their anxiety over time. Some of this growth is based on certain learned techniques as well as the therapeutic process itself and the established rapport between myself and the client.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

One of my strongest held theories from psychological theory is humanistic theory. It emphasizes the importance of self-actualization, free will, personal experience, and views people as inherently good and motivated to improve. As we get to know each other, I will learn more about your experience and begin to see the challenges you face through your eyes. It is through this rapport building and trust that the conditions necessary for change will be established. I have learned this first hand through my own therapy and experienced the lessening of anxiety and the increasing possibility of meaningful connection with others. In my twenties and thirties, I experienced panic attacks, debilitating migraines, and anxiety generally as I dealt with a major life transition from elite athletics to the working world. It was during this time that I discovered Zen Buddhism and meditation and have been practicing for nearly 30 years. If you want to learn more about how I can help, shoot me a message.
