About My Clients
I specialize in working with teenagers and adults, but I am excited to work with anyone that is looking to find some clarity in life. My clients show great courage seeking therapy. I am inspired by their ability to look within and find healing. I work best with clients who are excited to try activities, exercises, and homework.
My Background and Approach
I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist who uses techniques to help you take control of your thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Sometimes it helps to look at life through a different lens. By challenging assumptions and views of our self, we can dramatically change the way we feel. I am also a solution-oriented therapist. In other words, I am always trying to work myself out of a job because that means you are feeling better! I come prepared to every session with a plan. Rather than traditional talk therapy, sessions usually include worksheets, exercises, videos, and mindfulness techniques. I believe that therapy should be a way to equip your emotional toolkit with skills to navigate the past and the future. I have worked over 15 years in school districts, universities, summer programs, foster care settings, and community centers. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), earning my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin with Honors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all have the capacity to heal and change. We must walk our own path to find it, and sometimes with the guidance of others. I believe that going to therapy is a sign of strength and something to be proud of. I believe that we are all happiest when we feel connection. It can be important to talk about past events and experiences, and often this is the hardest part of therapy. But sometimes it is more important to talk about how we interact with the world in the present moment. That can illuminate a great deal to work with.
