About My Clients
I love working with LGBTQ+ clients and discussing any issues related to sexuality and gender. I am well-equipped in working with clients facing anxiety, depression, and/or emotion regulation issues. I enjoy working with adolescents and adult clients. I feel passionate about walking alongside folks through life transitions and hardships.
My Background and Approach
I am a recent Central Washington University graduate with a degree in mental health counseling and licensed as a mental health counselor. I have experience treating depression and anxiety utilizing emotion efficacy (which is a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and DBT) and emotion focused approaches. I enjoy working with clients on emotion regulation, coping with stress, and general phase of life issues. I also have experience treating trauma utilizing equine-facilitated psychotherapy, and although I do not offer this modality at this time, I do hope to offer it sometime in the future!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every human being has the ability to change and grow, and as a counselor it is my job to create an environment where that growth can be nurtured. I am a member of the LGBT+ community being a bisexual, non-binary woman, but I recognize that my experiences in a marginalized identity are not universal. I want to create a safe and accepting space for LGBT+ clients to be able to express themselves and discuss issues that they may feel uncomfortable discussing with a cisgender and heterosexual therapist. I also recognize my privilege as a white therapist, and the power that I hold there. I want to earn the title of ally to the BIPOC community and I am continuing to work on my anti-racist and racial justice work. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment to my BIPOC clients. I strive to have my feminism be intersectional. I also am a huge supporter of anti-diet, body liberation, and fat liberation. We can’t have equity without lifting up the most vulnerable.
