I work with clients to help them learn to accept and work with the anxiety and learn mindfulness skills that help focus the mind on the present moment. These techniques help to reduce the negative reactions to anxiety and find peace even when there is anxiousness.
I enjoy working with people and helping them find ways to see the positive aspects in their life. By embracing that inner struggle, our emotions and thoughts, I feel we have greater ability to respond to life in an authentic way.
I have completed DBT training through Rogers Behavioral Health and was a therapist in the DBT PHP/IOP Day program for a 1.5 years. On a daily basis, I taught DBT skills in a group setting and helped clients utilize the skills to reduce negative reactions, regulate emotions, and challenge unhelpful thinking styles.
A good therapeutic relationship is an important aspect of making good therapeutic change. I focus on creating a safe space and providing my clients with genuine positive regard to allow them the ability to express and examine their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors fully. Through genuine interactions, clients will begin to unravel the habitual patterns that keep them thinking the same thoughts, feeling the same negative emotions, and repeating the same unhelpful behaviors.
