Texas was making progress for LGBTQ+ people and becoming more accepting of consensual non-monogamy. Unfortunately there is a backlash recently that has grown in strength and politically threatens a fascist takeover around the country and around Texas. The need has now become even greater for counselor support for clients suffering under this oppressive culture and needing support to foster coping skills as much as possible in this discriminatory culture.

Diet industry and fat phobic culture continues to grow more profitable for corporations fueled by the old shame cycle perpetuated by pseudo-science now debunked that diets don't work and never have for over the hundreds thousands of years for homo sapiens. We had to evolve to survive famines and droughts so our bodies fight this whole process of trying to intentionally loose weight. Time to learn to be free of this diet culture and fat phobia and work on body liberation.

I do not consider myself an expert in anything but more of a general practitioner however in my journey and experience DBT has been one of the most useful approaches for me and others. Evidence-based practices over the past decade such as DBT really have become the gold standard of care all over the country and internationally as well.

Since Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck and other pioneers expanded the study and practice of CBT into what has become the standard of care over the past 40 years. CBT is the root tree from which DBT and also ACT have sprung, CBT is respected by all insurance companies.
