About My Clients
I work with individuals, couples, and families. I work with clients experiencing relationship issues including romantic relationship, familial relationships, friendships, coworkers, etc. I also enjoy working with clients dealing with anxiety, questions of identity, and general discontent.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. My work with clients is informed by the narrative model of therapy which emphasizes collaboration and mutual respect. This model is born out of a worldview that begins from a belief inequality and social justice and these are important ideas that drive my work. I believe that people possess the knowledge and internal resources to overcome problems. My job, as a consultant in their journey, is to help in making room for possibilities and preferred ways of thinking that are blocked by problems.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a straight, cisgendered, white male I strive to be an ally to various communities which are routinely disenfranchised in our society. I believe that as a therapist I have the privilege of being "quietly subversive" in the therapy room by asking questions that challenge traditional white, hetero-normative, patriarchal norms and beliefs. I am also passionate about advocating for animals and give to various animal rescues. ADOPT DON'T SHOP! Lastly, one issue that effects every individual, no matter what community they belong to, is the destruction of the environment. I am an environmentalist, and this informs many of the decisions I make on a person level. This is part of the reason I have chosen to move my practice completely online.
