Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in Los Angeles, CA
Supervised by Vanessa Spooner #PSY 24942
I have had extensive psychodynamic training in object relations, and currently have post graduate training with the institute of contemporary psychoanalysis Los Angeles.
I have done three trainings and am currently in the couples training for Aedp.
I’ve a specialization in lgbtq+ affirmative psychology which makes me inherently sex positive and dedicated to ongoing training and to work on having a person centered non-judgmental stance where the individual dictates their perspective on how their social identities were formed and how they intersect. Additionally my entire approach is on the impact on growing up queer in a heteronormative endosex cis society and how this affects all parts of the psyche.
I assist workshops with the creator and main researcher Elaine Aron. Sensory Processing Sensitivity is found in over 20% of the population and over 100 species. A deep processing of thought, overstimulation, deeply feeling emotions/empathy, and sensitivity to subtleties. It is an often misunderstood in a capitalist society that can cause great issues, as it can be seen as a weakness, when in fact it is a great gift and asset when nurtured and appreciated and taken care of.
I do most of my work based under the conceptualization that most people not of the dominant culture experience a form of complex trauma and therefore experience prolonged forms of cultural and systemic oppression that is interwoven throughout their lives. In taking a social justice and affirmative stance it is impossible to not be affected by the power systems at play and a large part of the work is exploring how these effect you and how to build yourself up in spite of these systems.
