Hi there! Thanks so much for visiting my page. My name is Aaron Byrd, LMFT and I'm excited to connect with you!

Do you find yourself worried about well...everything? Are simple tasks sometimes just too hard to complete because you find yourself thinking about everything that can go wrong? I've been there! Anxiety is something I have experienced my entire life. I know how hard it can be when it feels like you're battling yourself or an invisible force. Sometimes logic helps, but it doesn't always. Sometimes we need a little bit more than just a reminder that there's nothing to worry about.
Queer-identifying people experience unique struggles in the world. Community is crucial to the well-being of the LGBTQ+ community. It is your right to feel comfortable and safe being your authentic self in and outside of the therapy office. Using techniques such as parts work and brainspotting, we can work towards your goals together. Identifying as LGBTQ+ can be terrifying and traumatic...and also incredibly admirable and brave.
Symptoms of trauma may include anxiety, depression, fatigue, flashbacks, irritability, mood swings, or a series of failed relationships. Using brainspotting or EMDR, we can reclaim your life and offset the burden of trauma. These are very well-researched trauma therapies that I am excited to share with you. There's nothing wrong with you. It doesn't matter if your trauma happened yesterday or 30 years ago. You are a survivor. Let's go from surviving to thriving.
EMDR is an amazing therapy that helps to weaken the severity of trauma triggers and also to reduce the severity of negative beliefs we may have about ourselves. I am trained in levels I and II of EMDR and have been using the therapy since 2017. I have seen people make incredible strides in their lives after going through EMDR therapy and it's honestly so exciting to witness. EMDR therapy utilizes bilteral stimulation, thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and memories in a safe environment.
Have you seen the Disney movie Inside Out? Imagine you could witness those emotional parts in real time the way you did while watching the movie. In a lot of ways, that is IFS! Think about it, you already probably say things like "A part of me knows this isn't true, but another part of me isn't so sure." IFS aims to help you change your relationship with the parts of you that are currently causing you struggles. IFS also aims to separate YOU from the your pain.
At the end of the day, all types of therapy are valid but one thing will never change in its level of importance: the relationship between you and me. I am to hear you, see you, and be present with you and let you lead the way. This is your process and your experience. I may have helpful tips and tricks along the way, but ultimately, this is your life to live and I'm an excited witness.
