About My Clients
My clients are adults struggling with managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief and life transitions. Often times my clients have experienced something traumatic, whether that be a small life upset or a larger trauma that they would like to work through so that it is no longer invading their thoughts, sleep or views of themselves. My clients typically hardworking, creative and goal oriented individuals who desire guidance and support as they navigate past and present challenges.
My Background and Approach
My background in social work has given me invaluable tools for my work as a private practice therapist. I have worked one-on-one with individuals on Skid Row in Los Angeles; supported hospice patients in Brooklyn, New York; and provided trauma training to local townships in South Africa. My young adult life has been devoted to learning about people, working in mental health, and gaining experience to help people heal. I specialize in working with men and women struggling with negative symptoms of trauma, various anxiety disorders, difficult life transitions and grief. Utilizing EMDR and CBT as my primary treatment modalities when working with clients, I also incorporate Attachment Theory, Psychoanalysis and Mindfulness techniques. I believe that EMDR can be an efficient and effective technique. Treatment occurs in eight phases to help clients work through past memories and current stressors. It also prepares clients for future encounters that may feel daunting.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every human being is deserving of love, acceptance and deserves the best opportunities to grow and succeed in life. I also believe that sometimes our bodies and our minds are naturally designed to protect us, to keep us safe. But sometimes we need a guide, a support, to help us move through the parts that have been tucked away in a seemingly safe place but still feel tender. I’d like to be that guide, that support, to help you unfold the parts that may be stuck.
