About My Clients
Whether you are in a season of pain or healing, disrupting or rooting, wilting or falling, pruning or blooming — you are not alone. I primarily work with adults and teens going through complex trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship & identity issues. As a Chinese-American female therapist, I recognize that the larger systems we’re a part of can affect our inner wellbeing, our peace. Together, we can learn & practice how to embody an enduring peace in all seasons.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is collaborative, empowering, personalized, evidence-based and relational. There is no one-size-fits-all model to therapy, as I believe that every person has a unique background and story. I believe that healing and growth isn’t an individual process, but is done in relationship with one another– which is why our therapeutic relationship is also just as important to cultivate and co-create together. Your goals may naturally change throughout time, and that’s okay! I value collaboration and will ask for your feedback throughout so that you are working towards the goals and progress you’d like. While I integrate many different treatment approaches into my work, my therapeutic style is largely influenced by Personal-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Attachment-Based Therapy. I also enjoy utilizing mindfulness and somatic/movement based interventions restoring connections to all areas of our very being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about eliminating stigma and barriers to mental health, believing anyone has the potential to benefit from counseling. As a 2nd generation Chinese-American female, I recognize and value the ability to integrate all of who we are in spaces that we have. Growing up in a traditional immigrant household, I learned of guilt, shame, and silence. I also learned resilience, hope, and strength like no other. As a therapist now, I want to help and be of a light to others so that they can understand and recognize experiences such as guilt, shame and silence and meet them with compassion and kindness. Additionally, as a believer in God, I recognize the importance of faith in the process of emotional and spiritual healing. It can be difficult to hold the tension in this world; beauty and pain, glory and loss, heartache and heart growth. Faith for many has been a refuge, a place where healing takes place, and I want to support that for you and with you.
