About My Clients
My clients often come to therapy feeling consumed by worries, struggling with perfectionism, and avoiding or missing out on important parts of their lives. Often they don't feel "good enough." Many struggle with anxiety, OCD, body image concerns, trauma, as well as ADHD, Autism and Neurodivergence. My clients want to feel more confident in themselves so that they can create a life that aligns with what matters most, rather than feeling stuck reacting to their circumstances or running from fears.
My Background and Approach
I've been in the mental health field for 20 years, and will never stop learning! From books and trainings absolutely, but most of all from the people I have been honored to work work along the way. I blend humanity, heart and connection with science, skill and expertise to support folks in creating meaningful and lasting change. It is on the foundation of a safe, authentic, and collaborative relationship that we use skills (and a good dose of humor at times!) to move towards a life that feels like home. I have extensive training and experience in modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). What is more important than those labels, however, is understanding when and how to use skills and strategies in a way that supports each person's uniqueness, personal values and goals (not mine!).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Some of my personal values that influence how I practice include authenticity, connection, collaboration, empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to affirm all experiences. I particularly enjoy working with ADHD and Neurodivergence, including women, teens and those diagnosed/exploring diagnosis later in life (post-childhood). I combine countless hours of learning, reading, going down rabbit holes and formal training with personal and lived experience, and have met some of the most incredible folks along the way (albeit often misunderstood). Together my clients and I explore ND traits and how these apply for them specifically, and how these may differ from outdated, stereotyped ideas that account for only a narrow presentation of a given trait, experience or diagnosis. We work towards understanding, acceptance, and often reduction of shame surrounding neurotype(s) while developing skills to support executive functioning and advocate for accommodation of support needs.
