About My Clients
My typical clients love to be challenged, enjoy laughing in session and feel better after they express their emotions. Together, we work toward helping you feel safer in your body and more connected to yourself. I work with adults and teens in the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergents (neurospicy folks), substance abuse concerns and people who want to work through their trauma.
My Background and Approach
Therapy with me is collaborative, validating, and occasionally unhinged in the most clinically appropriate way. I have over 10 years of experience with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Ask me anything and I will have the answer, plus the steps and the skills. I use EMDR for clients that want to reprocess negative beliefs or events that have made them feel repulsed, disgusted, defeated, and other big feelings. I believe that most of my clients can benefit from EMDR. What I've also seen that has been useful is Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. All four of these modalities are here to help you. I pull from other theories when these don't typically work. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is pretty main stream right now- I try to stay as far away as I can due to it not being trauma-informed. The majority of my clients have trauma held in their body. My job as a therapist is to get you on the track that you want and deserve.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work at a shelter doing advocate work with human trafficking survivors, sexual assault survivors, and domestic violence survivors. I have a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice. A CJ degree is just four years of professionally learning that humanity is held together by untreated trauma and administrative paperwork. I hold empathy and compassion for every single one of my clients.
