About My Clients
Hi, I’m Sydney Walla, an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor based in San Diego, CA. I specialize in working with teens and young adults who constantly overthink or second-guess themselves, feel stuck even when they’re trying their best, struggle to set boundaries or speak up in relationships, or feel disconnected from themselves and unsure what they truly want. If any of this resonates, I’m here to help you along your journey.
My Background and Approach
I strive to create a space where you feel safe to be fully yourself—where you are met with compassion, curiosity, and authenticity. While I bring clinical knowledge and guidance, I believe that you are the expert on your own life. Healing does not come from me “fixing” you, but from helping you reconnect with the strengths, insight, and resilience that already exist within you. My approach draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices. These modalities support greater self-awareness, emotional flexibility, and alignment with your values. Together, we will work to better understand patterns, clarify what matters most to you, and navigate obstacles that may be keeping you stuck. I aim to balance empathy and support with thoughtful challenges that promote insight, growth, and lasting change. I see therapy as a collaborative journey—one where you are not alone, but supported as you deepen your self-understanding.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I truly believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, especially teens and young adults who are navigating through some of the most confusing years of their lives. If you've ever thought, " maybe I should start talking to someone," I see that as a sign worth paying attention to and not something to ignore. It doesn't mean something is wrong with you, it means you're becoming aware of yourself or noticing signs in your child that might need more support. Starting therapy can feel scary, especially if you've never opened up to someone you've just met, but it doesn't have to be scary as it seems. I want to reassure you that our space in therapy is completely yours - no judgment, no pressure, and no expectation to have everything figured out. You don't need to be in crisis or have a "big" problem to start therapy. Sometimes it's about feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or just needing someone who will actually listen and understand without interrupting or minimizing your experience.
