About My Clients
I have experience working with individuals who have challenges related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, ADHD, parenting, life transitions, grief, and trauma. I work with teens, adults, and parents providing therapy services online throughout the state of Texas and via walk and talk in the local Austin, TX area.
My Background and Approach
Throughout my career I have worked in various settings including tribal government, head starts, outpatient settings, in-home therapy, and in schools in communities throughout the country. I believe that mental health services should be accessible to everyone and I work hard to create a space of inclusivity in my work. I believe that some of the most fruitful healing happens in relationship and in community and that when given a safe environment, we naturally move towards healing and growth. I believe that if we can have another human being attune to us and help us feel accepted, safe, and seen for all the parts of who we are, we are able to do the hard work that therapy sometimes requires.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I continue to follow my interest in learning about how our connections to nature, our bodies, and one another can be a great source of healing. I recently attended a training on traditional Mexican Sobada, or massage therapy and I was thrilled to learn about the wealth of information in indigenous knowledge and I began to realize what incredible gifts have been passed down to us by our ancestors. The more I learned the more I realized that these connections and their capacity for healing were what modern western psychology was slowly becoming more open to and science was now able to "validate". I am excited to share how these teachings have expanded my understanding of mental and healing as I share my practice, Volver Counseling, with others.
