About My Clients
Are you experiencing stressors or symptoms that are negatively impacting your satisfaction with life, work, or relationships? Feeling anxious, stressed, or depleted? Would you benefit from an interactive therapist who offers authentic feedback and coping skills in addition to reflective listening? I just might be the fit for you! Once understanding what brings you to therapy, we will work collaboratively to maximize our time in sessions and explore how to continue the work outside of therapy.
My Background and Approach
With over 20 years of experience in behavioral health, one thing remains constant, which is that I take a person-centered approach to therapy, valuing an individualized process that honors one’s strengths, abilities, and resilience. Though not an all-inclusive list, areas of clinical focus that I have extensive experience in includes anxiety disorders, OCD, individuals who have experienced or are living with psychosis, and substance use disorders. Theoretical approaches and interventions align with concepts of relational therapy, stages of change, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, self-determination, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and harm reduction. Ultimately, a connection built on trust and hope will be foundational to our work together, and modalities will be tailored to your needs. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside someone in their journey to wellness, and hope to have the opportunity to work with you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that our own experiences shape the way in which we view ourselves and the world around us. Some experiences that have shaped me as a child and young adult have led to doing this work, and supporting others who are going through difficult times. I believe it's important to hold hope for others, particularly when they are having trouble seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I believe that connection in relationships and meaningful activity, whatever that may be to each of us, builds a sense of community and strengthens our resiliency. We are all capable of so much more than we often believe, and I too am no different here in that we all need reminders sometimes of our own strength to persevere. In addition to my professional work, I also volunteer with a program that aims to provide housing to adults with developmental disabilities that would otherwise not be able to live on their own.
