About My Clients

. My particular interest is to work with survivors of trauma (including but not limited to early childhood trauma, witnessing/directly experiencing violence, abuse, assaults, medical trauma, disaster, motor vehicle accident), complex grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and mood instability.

My Background and Approach

For the past 20 years, I have worked with children, teens, and adults who presented with symptoms of depression, anxiety, psychosis, self-mutilation, suicide ideation, cutting, substance abuse, mood instability (i.e., bipolar disorder), grief, interpersonal violence, and post-trauma responses. I have worked with clients of diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds, gender, and sexual orientation. And for the past 13 years, I have specialized in working with trauma survivors. I use various modalities, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, art modality, mindfulness-based intervention, sandtray therapy, and somatic-processing based therapy (specifically Somatic Experiencing), that are tailored to each specific client. Throughout the sessions, building curiosity, ensuring a sense of safety, (re)establishing a sense of self-empowerment and strength is the fundamental work in strengthening the therapeutic relationship and optimizing results.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My work is not to tell you which path you should take for your healing journey. In working with trauma survivors, I have witnessed an amazing strength, grit, and resilience that, in the beginning, were hidden or suppressed from the persistent self-protective responses, which was started when a traumatic event occurred. I do not believe in a concept of right or wrong when it comes to one's emotions and/or ways of thinking. Thought and behavior are there as a way to manage ourselves from a perceived sense of threat. Until we are aware, curious, and accept the unhelpful ways of navigating our life, we can shift to a more meaningful and peaceful lifestyle.
