About My Clients
When life throws us for a loop (or many!), we can feel like we are on shaky ground. Therapy offers a space to heal from stressful experiences, whether they are in the past or ongoing. I serve clients (teens, adults, parents) who are experiencing life transitions, depression, anxiety, relationship changes/stress, ADHD and who are recovering from past or ongoing trauma. I also specialize in working with young adults who are re-entering their community following incarceration.
My Background and Approach
As a clinical psychologist with years of therapy experience, I specialize in the treatment of trauma and mood disorders, with sensitivity to the impact that both big and small events can have on our ability to function. I use multiple modalities within the therapeutic space. Using a strength-based approach, I adapt evidence-based approaches, such as CBT and DBT. I am also in the advanced year of the Somatic Experiencing program, which is an evidence-based approach to healing from trauma and attachment disruptions. This means that I often incorporate somatic practices into my work (think - movement and laughter as needed!).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am deeply attuned to the benefits can come from putting in "the work" and I am passionate about my role as a therapist. I seek to provide a safe space to explore the best parts of you that may get lost to dark times. My approach is strength- and relationship-based, with a focus on tapping into the resilience that exists within and amongst us. Through the safety of the therapeutic relationship, we can start to see ourselves and our relationship to the world around us in new lights. I believe in the importance of practicing what you preach. I arrive to sessions as authentically human, which means that the tips and techniques I offer are ones that I have used myself or that others have found helpful, but ultimately you will guide the process as you are truly the best expert of your own experience.
