About My Clients
Our body, mind, and spirit are all connected. When one starts to feel off, our whole world seems to be off balance. We become disconnected from our body, mind, and spirit. Our disconnection can cause a multitude of symptoms - depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Whether you’re someone with chronic illness who is feeling disconnected from your body, an athlete struggling with body image, or someone going through life transitions, therapy can help you reconnect to you.
My Background and Approach
I provide trauma informed and fibromyalgia focused psychodynamic and somatic counseling to folks of all sizes for any concern. I’m passionate about helping folks heal their relationship with their body through a Health at Every Size model. My identity as a chronically ill, fat, woman of color has impacted my life in many ways. As a therapist, it’s important that I help my clients of marginalized identities, as my own, feel empowered in their bodies and health through their culture. The heart of my identity and counseling style is the mind-body-spirit-culture connection and decolonizing our lives. Along with being a therapist, I am a third generation Eastern medicine energy healer. My roots are in traditional (pre-colonial) Filipino practices. This involves ancestral/intergenerational communication and healing, Earth-based spirituality, soul embodiment, and other shamanic practices.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My identity as a chronically ill, fat, woman of color has impacted my life in many ways. I believe in Health at Every Size, I stand with Black individuals and their right to live joyful, full lives, and I believe that wellness should be accessible to all people. It's important to me that the BIPOC community feels that their mental health is important; that's why I became a counselor. As a counselor, it's my responsibility to educate the public from a decolonial stance and work towards dismantling white supremacy through my counseling work.
