About My Clients
I'm passionate about working with the people who may have additional layers of ecological trauma that contribute to their pelvic health concerns. This can include but is not limited to people who identify as BIPOC & LGBTQIA+. It takes a certain level of engagement to create the most meaningful outcomes, so I love working with clients who are motivated for change. I find it meaningful to share values. Mine include compassion, diversity and inclusivity, embodiment, empowerment & curiosity.
My Background and Approach
What is a Pelvic Health Rehab Therapist? You may have also seen this specialty area called Pelvic Floor Therapy, Pelvic Floor PT, Pelvic Rehab, Pelvic Health Therapy, Pelvic Health OT...these are a pool of clinicians who help people with pelvic health concerns. My academic foundation is a Master's in Occupational Therapy which integrates mental health and physical rehabilitation to address anything that anyone needs, wants or are expected to do. BIG UMBRELLA huh? I spent from 2018-2021 working in a medical stabilization unit for Eating Disorders (EDs). Here I acquired specialized training in Behavioral Interventions for Chronic Pain, earned my Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) designation, and started to see how people with EDs often also have pelvic dysfunction which inspired me to complete several Herman & Wallace courses in addition to learning from leaders in Pelvic Health. Some of my favs including Anna Crowle, Jenny Burrell, Lauren Ohayon & Lindsey Vestal.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Communities I subscribe to: International Dance Music Community. My journey with music has been so healing! It's where I first started to shake off the dust, tap into my body & surrender to the sound. I love the variety of being silly out on the dance floor & connecting deeply with old friends & new finds who also really feel the music. During the pandemic, I found my way to the International School of Temple Arts (ISTA) community & other online tantra offerings. I loved engaging with this online community; being able to do workshops & engage from the comfort of my own home. I'm currently dipping my toe into the intentional sex positive community in Denver. I like to connect with like-minded people over shared interest. Being Biracial, I never really fit into a "demographic community." In US, I'm called a black person, in Ghana I'm called an oburoni (white person). I'm most comfortable when I get to be Rachel, vibing with my people over the things that make us feel alive!
