About My Clients
I work with individuals to process issues such as trauma, historical and intergenerational trauma, depression, anxiety, and internal systems Dissociative Identity Disorder/ Abilities. My practice is inclusive and welcoming of all genders, races, countries of origin, sexual orientations, all body sizes, religions, and abilities including diverse populations including the Indigenous Urban and LGBTQIA+ communities. I work online and in studio, with adults and teens as well as ATR supervisees.
My Background and Approach
I help people find their voice and true selves, whose lives have been impacted by trauma and various forms of abuse in their childhood. I have noticed in my three decades of work that we use our strengths to create beliefs and aspects of identity that don't match who we really are, and what we really know about ourselves. By engaging in deep meaningful conversation and exploring with art materials in sessions, we can choose to move from survival and reactions to owning and living our lives fully. Much of traumatic experiences reside in the non-verbal part of the brain. The use of creative art therapy allows the individual to express feelings in a visual and sensory way, allowing for a better understanding of the feeling which allows us to find our own buried truths. Challenging harmful and devaluing pervasive societal systems is naturally integrated in our work together. In addition to being a clinician, I am also an artist, supervisor, and educator.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that culturally relevant creative art therapy can provide the space for the invisible to become visible; promoting healing and thriving in life. In order to heal and change to a more strengths-based and empowered self-view, we will work together to understand the cause of the false programming and belief systems that developed early on in life.
